I WANT A DIVORCE IN NY

I GOT MARRIED IN 1995 OR 96 WE SEPARATED AND I HAVE NOT SEEN OR HEARD OF HIM IN MORE OR LESS 8 YRS I WANT TO GET A DIVORCE HOW DO I GO ABOUT GETTTING THIS DONE?

Answer: 

New York state allows abandonment for a year or more as sufficient grounds for a divorce. Eight years without seeing your husband certainly qualifies. You can inititate your divorce on the grounds of abandonment and yu shouldn't have any problems. If there isn't a big estate to divide or children involved, you may be able to handle most of the paperwork yourself. Check with the New York State Unified Court System for more info:
